What is hypnosis?

Here are the ABCs of hypnosis.

A is for Attention

You don’t need a pendulum for hypnosis. You don’t even need to relax.

You need attention. Focused attention, like when you’re staring at the flame of a candle and you kind of tune out as you stare at the flickering flame. You don’t need to be relaxed. You may have even been upset and then all of a sudden you tune into the flame of a candle and you’re in a trance.

Or you’re trying to relax but you’re actually feeling anxious. Then you focus your attention on the flame and it puts you into kind of a trance and you kinda lose yourself. Then, you catch yourself staring at the flame .

B is for Bypass the Critical Mind

The critical mind is the mind that’s always judging. It’s always critical. It’s always evaluating, and calling BS on everything.

This is the critical mind that when you’re trying to relax, it’s going 100 miles a minute.

It’s the critical mind when someone starts a traditional hypnotic induction, like when they tell you to start walking down a path, go downstairs and then they tell you to start to relax, and go deeper…

Your critical mind can put on the brakes on and prevent yourself from going into hypnosis because you’re always in control.

No one can hypnotize you without your willingness. You can actually prevent going into hypnosis with your critical mind. Hypnosis needs to bypass the critical mind.

C is for Connect. Hypnosis needs to connect you with your subconscious mind. It needs to start speaking its language which is a language of metaphors.

I believe when you connect with your subconscious mind, you’re trying to describe something that’s almost impossible to describe because there are no words to relate to that experience or to what is down in your subconscious mind.

The closest you can get is by using metaphors to describe what’s going on in the subconscious mind.

All the answers to your problems are in your subconscious mind.

Subconscious. Unconscious. Superconscious. These all refer to the same thing – anything outside of your conscious awareness.

Just outside of your conscious mind, there are insights waiting for you. There actually seems to be a superconscious mind that has access to quantum leaps in thinking.

These answers and resources really come out of nowhere. They exist outside your conscious awareness but you had no idea that they were even possibilities. They definitely weren’t a possibility for you before you connected with the superconscious mind and worked out the answers.

Your superconscious mind finds resources that you didn’t think were available to you. It works out all the answers, all the different combinations of all the resources, and all the answers that could work for you and your situation.

Testing

You can actually test to see if hypnosis works right after your hypnosis session.

You can test to see how you feel about the original problem that you had.

It’s not just that you were anxious and now you feel relaxed. But it is like, you had a problem that was messing up your life was causing you intense pain and suffering.

And now with these new insights it’s not a problem anymore or it’s very small and it’s manageable.

Hypnosis is like anything else.

There’s good hypnosis, really effective hypnosis, and there’s also some kinds of hypnosis that aren’t effective.

Maybe some types are effective for some people but they’re just not effective for you. But you can test the effectiveness by how you feel afterwards.

After hypnosis, you feel like you have a new set of resources to deal with whatever the problem was.

It’s not just like you read a book but you’ve integrated the learning that you got when you were in hypnosis into every cell in your body, every neuron in your brain.

Every cell in your body is on board with your new insights.

You embody the new insight. And as you’re actually being this new insight, the problem isn’t a problem anymore .

Rhen because you’re being this new insight, you do whatever that insight would cause you to do.i

It’s effortless and easy because you don’t have to generate willpower or motivation. You already are it.

Good hypnosis is the type of hypnosis that will be the most effective for you.

Your problems can be resolved because you’ll have new resources to deal with it.
