Here’s Why Therapy Feels Like It’s Missing Something
I love talk therapy. It has helped me tremendously to understand what was going on with a cheating ex and a whole lotta other shite.
But it wasn’t quite able to get me over the finish line.
You know…
The place where the world feels right again, where the situation and all the crazy emotion is in the past.
Don’t get me wrong. Talk therapy has its place but it wasn’t able to get me all the way over the finish line because there were these pesky emotions that were keeping me down.
As much as I talked about my problem, I couldn’t shake the shitty feelings, the feelings of confusion, even though I knew I shouldn’t be feeling this way. This guy was a cheater, so feelings got turned upside down.
Months later, why were all these feelings still there? Why was I still feeling so bad? Why was my body still feeling all the pain and confusion?
Talk therapy provides a safe space to talk through your challenges, feel heard and validated. But sometimes it falls short of delivering the answers you are looking for.
Many clients seek hypnotherapy because talk therapy and thinking of the problem with their conscious mind only gets them so far. Sometimes talk therapy actually makes things worse because from a neuroscience perspective, it reinforces the neural pathways of the trauma of the situation.
You can’t solve emotions with logic.
Trauma and emotions exist in the unconscious…
That’s where it goes so we can stay safe, so we can function, even if it’s barely functioning. It’s a safer place to be than having the trauma in the conscious arena all day long. If it was, we probably wouldn’t be able to get out of bed.
If you’ve ever left a session feeling validated but still stuck, you’re not alone. It’s because most talk therapy focuses on conscious understanding, not deep emotional resolution.
The therapist is not there to offer solutions but that is what we are looking for. Solutions to our problems.
Let’s take look at the brain for a hot second.
Neuroscience tells us that emotions and logic operate in entirely different parts of the brain. Logical thinking happens in the prefrontal cortex, while emotions originate in the limbic system, particularly the amygdala. These two regions don’t always communicate effectively so trying to solve emotional problems with logic doesn’t work. When you’re triggered, no one can reason with you. Not even you.

In talk therapy, you’re often engaging the prefrontal cortex to analyze and rationalize your experiences.
But trauma, emotional pain, and deeply ingrained emotional triggers and patterns live in the limbic system and subconscious mind, places where logic doesn’t make sense.
This is why talk therapy might help you understand why you’re feeling a certain way but still leave you trapped in the same cycles. Waking up and doing the same thing because you can’t control your emotions with logic.

Knowing why you do something doesn’t give you power.
What you’re looking for is transformation.
Empowerment.
Choice.
For lasting change, you need to address the subconscious, where the root of your emotional pain and limiting patterns reside.
Hypnosis: Going Beyond Validation
Here’s where hypnosis comes in.
Hypnosis bypasses the conscious mind—the part of you that’s busy overanalyzing—and works directly with the superconscious, the depths of your emotions, memories, and automatic behaviors.
Through hypnosis, you’re able to access the subconscious in a deeply relaxed yet focused state. This allows for something truly transformational. Neuroscience shows us that when we revisit emotional memories in a controlled state like hypnosis, we can actually rewire how the brain stores them (Ecker, Ticic, & Hulley, Unlocking the Emotional Brain, 2012).
For example, let’s say you’ve carried feelings of unworthiness from a childhood experience. Talk therapy might help you understand where those feelings come from.
Let me save you years of therapy.
Spoiler alert.
They come from significant figures from your childhood that provided care for you or did a real shitty job.
Hypnosis, however, allows you to gain real insight into the root sources of the emotion so they no longer carries the same emotional charge.
The Neuroscience Behind Hypnosis
Brain imaging studies reveal that hypnosis alters activity in the default mode network (DMN), the part of your brain responsible for habitual thought patterns. This shift helps break the automatic loops that keep you stuck in negative self-beliefs.
We can actually rewire your neural pathways in hypnosis so that after the session, they are still there.
New pathways to happiness and freedom.
Hypnosis can connect the limbic system and prefrontal cortex, giving you the emotional regulation tools talk therapy often can’t figure out. Instead of endlessly analyzing, you create real change at the superconscious level.
Here’s the thing.
These insights are already inside you.
You just have to find a therapist who know how to connect you with your superconscious mind to find them.
If Talk Therapy has run out of gas before you’ve reached the finish line
If you’ve spent years in therapy and feel like you’re still spinning your wheels, it’s not because you’re “broken” or “beyond help.” It’s because talk therapy often keeps you in the realm of explanation rather than transformation.
Hypnosis doesn’t just validate your feelings; it rewires the way your brain processes them. Y
ou don’t have to relive every painful detail or analyze it to death. With Accelerated Hypnosis, many of my clients find the relief they’ve been searching for—in just one or two sessions.
The answers you’re looking for aren’t in your conscious mind. They’re just slightly below your conscious awareness in your superconscious.
And that’s exactly where Accelerated Hypnosis takes you.
