Why You Stay Frozen in Fear, Overwhelm, and Anxiety

fear anxiety overwhelm

I’m Liana West, I have a Masters in Neuroscience -I understand the brain at work and the brain when it deals with overwhelming emotions.

Have you ever felt frozen in fear, overwhelm or uncertainty?

If you have or if you’re feeling that way right now, let’s use that as an example and look at why these types of problems can’t solved in the same way that you solve other things.

We will look at what’s happening in your brain and how to solve these types of problems.

Let’s say there’s 2 different types of problems.

There’s a type of problem that’s out there in the world that you solve with insight, understanding, getting more information, more logic.

More logic, is that even a thing?

These are the problems that you solve with your conscious mind, bringing more things into your conscious awareness, like getting more understanding, information, and insight to help you figure it out.

You’ve probably solved millions of problems like this in your life and in your business.

And then there’s another type of problem, it might start with something out there in the world.

It might be something something that happened, is still happening, or maybe hasn’t even happened yet.

The problem might have started out there but now there’s a component that’s inside of you, as you start to internalize the problem and start feeling a certain way.

Thinking about a problem that makes you feel more of the same, talking about the problem revivifies the emotions so you feel more fear and overwhelm.

That’s part of what is making things feel stuck, that element of fear, anxiety or overwhelm because of thinking about the problem overwhelms your brain and you can probably feel that.

And when your brain is overwhelmed, it’s not good a solving problems.

It’s kind of like when you’re in a burning building, you can’t really think of anything else except how to get out of the situation that you’re in.

Have you heard that the brain can hold in its active memory, 7 things +/- 2

When a problem becomes too complex or when it has an overwhelming emotional element to it, more information, more understanding, more insight, bringing more things into conscious awareness doesn’t help.

Because logic can’t fix your feelings.

If this problem could have been solved with your conscious mind, you probably would have solved it by now.

You would have moved on already, but you’re still stuck.

And so thinking about what happened, or what’s happening, or what’s going to happen can make your brain catch on fire in the emotional part of your brain called the amygdala.

Then it kind of takes off like a wildfire, your emotions become hyperactive.

And if you’ve had the problem for a while, you become hypersensitive. You start to generalize and you become even more overwhelmed.

Your brain starts scanning for danger everywhere, so even small things can feel like a big deal as you become hypervigilant.

And if you think about this problem, and how stuck that you have been feeling, it’s probably getting worse over time, not better.

And you’ve tried all the things to fix the problem.

You’ve probably been dealing with this like other problems doing all the things and if it could have solved with those strategies, you probably would have already figured it out by now.

The reason it’s persisting is because when your brain is overwhelmed, frozen with fear and uncertainty, when there’s an emotional element to your problem, you need to solve it in a different way.

When your brain is in a state of survival, fight, flight, freeze, your brain thinks that there’s something that it has to survive, something that is dangerous.

Maybe it’s seeing the thought of failure or maybe even success as dangerous.

And you are frozen in fear at the thought of it.

It’s like when you’re in a burning building, you’re in survival mode.

You’re just trying to get out of the building.

You’re not trying to rearrange the furniture.

You’re just trying to get the f*** out.

And when you think about the problem, it’s like trying out a fire by pouring gasoline on it, because these thoughts overwhelm your brain even more.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, the way to fix the feelings is to keep them outside of your conscious awareness.

Instead of bringing the problem up into your conscious awareness, and trying to get more understanding and insight about the fear and the anxiety, especially if it’s related to something traumatic that happened in the past and it’s somehow related to the fear and the anxiety that you’re feeling now.

Often these feelings are familiar because it’s not the first time you felt like this.

Here’s the thing.

You don’t have to remember to recover.

You don’t have to dig up the past, stir up the fear and the anxiety to work on it.

Bringing it into your conscious awareness has probably not been working, even though that’s the first place that people usually go when they feel fear and anxiety.

They go talk to somebody about it.

My clients have a lot of self-awareness and insight but the feelings are still there and by the time they find me, they’ve tried everything but nothing is working.

When your brain is on fire, nothing works.

You have to fix feelings at the subconscious level so your brain is not overwhelmed.

You solve them by leaving things unconscious, leaving all the fear and the pain and the anxiety at the subconscious level while you’re working on them, so they don’t overwhelm your brain.

Because when your brain is overwhelmed, it gets stuck and can’t problem solve.

It can’t put all the pieces together (integration) to solve the puzzle.

So for these types of problem, instead of bringing things up into conscious awareness to work on them, we go down to the subconscious and work on things unconsciously, outside your conscious awareness.

When clients come to me in frozen in fear and overwhelm, we both get our conscious minds out of the way so they can connect with the Superconscious because it knows exactly how to treat your problem.

This is one of the reason why I don’t have to know about your problem (we can just leave it in the past).

It’s called content free hypnotherapy.

Remember you don’t have to remember to recover.

The difference will be when you start working with your brain, not against it.

Instead we work subconsciously, outside your awareness because your superconscious that has a solution that is far more amazing than anything we could come up with our conscious mind.

Because when you connect with your Superconscious, you access a Space of Infinite Possibilities.

You access whole ‘notha level of possibilities that have nothing to do with the past.

It’s like being in a field of fresh snow, and you can create a new pathway to wherever it is that you want to go, in your business, in life.

You literally creates this new pathway in your brain and there are ways you can you reinforce it.

I help them get there, and then I teach them how to stay there so they can get the abundance and success they deserve by living inside their calling, their passion.

I am going to be doing a free hypnotherapy session.

I’m not going to be reading a script telling you to go down a path and walk down stairs and feel relaxed.

We are going to use our fear, anxiety, and overwhelm to remove the #1 block to abundance and success that keeps people stuck.

Check out the free gifts and let’s connect in that session.
